Hi, I'm Patrick Bluekens - partner, and proud dad of two daughters - living on the edge of the forest in beautiful Bergen, North Holland. I began my career as a recruiter and headhunter more than 25 years ago, and I still love the work today. During a meeting in Bulgaria, I met Mihail Stavrev. We discovered shared interests and spent hours brainstorming a new proposition. Drawing on Mihail's experience working across multiple locations worldwide - and the recurring challenges he'd seen first-hand - we spotted an opportunity to do things better. That insight became Hubstead.

Hi, I'm Mihail Stavrev - recruiter, traveler, and travel enthusiast - currently based in Koh Samui, Thailand, but rarely standing still. Over the past decade, I've worked with international teams and helped hundreds of professionals find their next role across borders. Along the way, I saw a recurring pattern: people craved not just remote freedom, but meaningful environments to live and work better. Ironically, I met Patrick when I was back in my home country. What began as a simple conversation turned into hours of brainstorming around how work, lifestyle, and culture could blend seamlessly. From those talks, Hubstead was born - a way to make "working abroad" not just possible, but effortless and enriching for everyone involved.
